ISITA2020 Outstanding Early Career Researcher Paper Award

ISITA2020 presents the ISITA2020 Outstanding Early Career Researcher Paper Award to young researchers in order to promote research on information theory and its applications. The award is sponsored by Entropy, the media partner of ISITA2020.

  • Award candidates should:
    • be the main contributor of a paper accepted at ISITA2020,
    • give a video presentation of the paper at ISITA2020 virtual site,
    • be born on or after April 10th, 1980, and
    • satisfy at least one of the following:
      1. obtained a doctorate degree after December 31st, 2014,
      2. obtained a master's degree after December 31st, 2011,
      3. obtained a bachelor's degree after December 31st, 2009.
      4. was a student for at least part of the period from April 11th, 2019 to April 10th, 2020.
  • Two winners will receive the award with a monetary prize (250 CHF each). Prize money will be paid by bank transfer. The amount to be paid depends on currency exchange rate and the bank fee.
  • The award committee selects the award winners with the assistance ISITA2020 Technical Program Committee.

  • Kirill Ivanov: "On the dependency between the code symmetries and the decoding efficiency"

ISITA2020 Best Student Paper Award

ISITA2020 presents the ISITA2020 Best Student Paper Award for students to encourage them to participate in the symposium.

  • Award candidates should:
    • be the main contributor of a paper accepted at ISITA2020,
    • give a video presentation of the paper at ISITA2020 virtual site,
    • be born on or after April 10th, 1985, and
    • be a student for at least part of the period from April 11th, 2019 to April 10th, 2020.
  • At most five winners will receive the award. Winner(s) of the Outstanding Early Career Researcher Paper Award are not eligible to receive the ISITA2020 Best Student Paper Award.
  • The award committee selects the award winners with the assistance ISITA2020 Technical Program Committee.

IEEE IT Society Japan Chapter Young Researcher Best Paper Award

IEEE Information Theory Society Japan Chapter honors excellent papers that are authored by young researchers and presented at ISITA2020. At most three winners will receive the IEEE IT Society Japan Chapter Young Researcher Best Paper Award, which comes with a monetary prize. The winners of the awards will be announced in the symposium banquet.

Requirements for Applicants

Those who meet all of the following requirements are eligible to apply for the award:

  1. You have (or you have applied for) an IEEE membership that is (will be) associated with a Japan-based Geo Section; Sapporo, Sendai, Shin-etsu, Tokyo, Nagoya, Kansai, Hiroshima, Shikoku or Fukuoka Section.
  2. You are 35 years old or younger on April 17, 2020.
  3. You are the first author of an accepted paper of ISITA2020.
  4. You will give the presentation of the accepted paper in ISITA2020.
  5. If you are a student, then your supervisor endorses your application.
