The first ISITA was held in Hawaii in 1990 and ISITA 2022 is the 17th occasion of this series of biennial symposiums. As well as being a technical meeting of fine quality, ISITA has been a place for students and young researchers to meet new ideas and new colleagues in a casual atmosphere. In 32 years, the symposium has nourished plenty of professors and researchers in addition to innumerable lemmas and theorems. In this symposium session, we invite three professors who have grown with ISITA and look back at the history of the symposium. The review shows us the evolution of research subjects in Information Theory, and we can learn that investigation at one time gives the foundation for the next step. It is our pleasure if the talks encourage our young colleagues who needed to have unpleasant and uncommon experiences in the very first days of their carrier due to COVID-19.
